Who i am

My name is Chris Derix. I am a clinical psychologist with over 15 years of experience assessing and treating adult clients. I recently returned to graduate school to respecialize in sport psychology to provide services across the entire continuum of mental health. Whether you are looking for support in improving your mental health, enhancing your performance, or seeing a provider who offers a combination of both, please reach out.

After high school, I worked blue-collar jobs before pursuing higher education. After seeing the toll that labor took on my body, I decided to go to college, despite not initially enjoying the traditional education system. I focused my studies on psychology and business, eventually earning my Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology. I completed my internship and residency in rural mental health, providing assessment and therapy to adolescent and adult clients experiencing severe and persistent mental illness, while also providing mental health education to the community.

Following my residency, I moved to the St. Louis area to work in geriatric mental health, where I eventually transitioned into an administrative role. After five years in that sector, I moved into a private group practice for 10 years, where I primarily saw adult clients for psychological assessment and therapy. I formed UCSP in 2025 and am excited to be practicing independently, offering services across the entire continuum of mental health and performance.

I entered the field of psychology for several reasons: a desire to alleviate suffering, a natural ability to listen, and a need for professional variety and challenge. I feel honored to be part of your journey in improving your mental health and performance, whether in life or specifically in sport. I strive to offer services with the same care and respect I would expect for myself or my family.

In my downtime, I enjoy hiking, cycling, reading, video games, weightlifting, and spending time with my family. I have been happily married for 15 years and have two children, aged 13 and 9. In both my clinical and sport psychology work, I offer a confidential and objective arena to work toward your goals without judgment. I aim to understand your worldview and collaborate on the goals that matter most to you.
